| 1916 | Chicago (Hyde Park) becomes first Illinois high school to form swimming team for girls, competes against club teams. |
| 1951 | IHSA sponsors first statewide "postal" swimming meet for girls. |
| 1974 | Last "postal" swim meet conducted. |
| 1975 | IHSA holds first girls swimming and diving meet at New Trier East High School in Winnetka. |
| 1978 | Girls swimming and diving meet moved from the fall to the winter sports season for two school years (1977-78 and 1978-79). |
