| 1969 | IHSA approves interscholastic contests in girls gymnastics. |
| 1977 | First IHSA girls gymnastics meet held at Maine East H.S. in Park Ridge. |
| 1978 | Teams allowed to qualify and advance to the state final; state final moved from winter to spring sports season. |
| 1979 | State final moved to its current home, Palatine H.S. |
| 1980 | State final returned to winter sports season. |
