Changes to Football Schedule — 2007-08

Please note the following important announcements regarding the IHSA football master schedule:

October 19, 2007

Word was received this morning that Maranatha Baptist Academy of Watertown, Wisconsin, has forfeited the eight games it won this season.  Five of those wins were over Illinois schools.

The Illinois schools receiving a forfeit win are:

  • Hebron (Alden-H.), now 8-1 (completed its regular season Thursday night)
  • Mooseheart, now 6-2
  • Winnetka (North Shore Country Day), now 6-2
  • Rockford (R. Christian), now 4-4
  • Kirkland (Hiawatha), now 2-6

These schools all gain a win but lose eight tie-breaker "playoff points."

Any school that played one of the Illinois schools will receive a "playoff point" representing an additional win by one of their opponents.

The enrollment of Fithian (Oakwood) [Coop] has been adjusted.  Oakwood coops with Armstrong, whose enrollment includes students from the neighboring Potomac district, which deactivated several years ago. Those students are shown on a separate line of the Illinois State Board of Education housing report and were overlooked when the IHSA computed its enrollment figures in April. With those students included, Armstrong's total enrollment increases from 119 to 217 and the enrollment of the Fithian (Oakwood) football coop increases from 426 to 524.

The IHSA thanks the administration of Fithian (Oakwood) for bringing this information forward.
