ATTENTION, CHESS COACHES: The Chess Manual, including the Terms & Conditions for this year's state tournament, will be in the mail Nov. 5 with the monthly all-school mailing. The mailing is addressed to your school's official representative (probably your principal, but perhaps your athletic director). You may want to track it down before it goes astray. Here is a recap of the school entry process. The normal deadline for winter entries is Nov. 1. We have more leeway in chess, so we accept normal entries (without penalty) until Dec. 1. After Dec. 1, you may still be allowed to enter, but will be required to pay a $50 late fee. This part of the process must be completed by your school's principal or official representative. The second part of the process is the Roster and Team Data Form, which is normally filled out in mid-January by the coach. You will need to obtain a coach's password to the IHSA Schools Center to fill out this form. The deadline for submission is Jan. 28. If you intend to participate at state, you MUST fill out this form in order to be seeded on Feb. 1.
As of Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 8:00 am: If you filled out the online Roster and Team Data Form completely by the time shown above, the value in the column labeled "Pages" will be 5. If the value is not 5, please fill out your Roster and Team Data Form NOW. Jan. 28 is a hard deadline. You will not be able to compete at state if the form is not completed.
