| 1908 | Cook County League sponsors first open meet in Illinois history for high school cross country runners. |
| 1946 | IHSA sponsors first state meet in cross country at Urbana Country Club. |
| 1952 | Meet held at Peoria Country Club for one year. |
| 1970 | Meet moved to current home, Detweiller Park in Peoria. |
| 1976 | Competition held in two classes for the first time. |
