IHSA Bass Fishing State Finals Rescheduled for June 17-18

The Board of Directors of the Illinois High School Association announced today that June 17-18 will be the date for the association’s third bass fishing state finals at Carlyle Lake.  The event was originally scheduled for May 6-7 but was postponed due to the record-setting rains and flooding in southern Illinois this spring.

“We are appreciative of the efforts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and City of Carlyle officials who have worked tirelessly over the past month to allow our bass fishing state finals to be conducted on Carlyle Lake,” said IHSA Associate Executive Director Kurt Gibson.  “While it was unfortunate that the weather has impacted this event, we are thankful that the southern Illinois area has rebounded from this record-setting flooding situation, and being able to hold our state finals at Carlyle Lake is a testament to that recovery.”

A total of 55 boats from 19 sectional tournaments qualified for the state finals, which will begin at 7:00 a.m. each day.  A copy of the state finals schedule can be accessed through the IHSA website or at www.thefuturefisheshere.org.
