Class 2A action begins with Friday semifinals at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m., while the Class 3A semifinals follow at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Saturday’s Class 2A third-place match begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the 2A title match. The 3A third-place and state championship matches are slated for Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively.

All eight matches this weekend will be broadcast live by the NFHS Network on www.IHSA.tv, while the two state championship matches will also be rebroadcast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

CLASS 2A

WATERLOO BULLDOGS (23-3-1)  vs.
CARMEL CORSAIRS (18-7-1)

Head coach Chad Holden has Waterloo back in the state finals for the third time in school history (2004, 2010) and a win away from playing in a title match for the first time. The Bulldogs have scored three goals or more in 21 matches this season behind the prolific one-two offensive punch of senior midfielder Kane Osterhage (30 goals, 18 assists) and junior forward Ben Huels (27 goals, 8 assists).

Carmel’s first state final appearance comes under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Ray Krawzak. The Corsairs have a budding star in sophomore forward Austin Ehren (26 goals, 8 assists), while fellow sophomore Kyle Knauer (92 saves) has been solid in goal throughout the season. Knauer and his defensive teammates have not allowed more than one goal in a postseason game yet.

PEORIA NOTRE DAME IRISH (21-1-3)  vs.
CHICAGO WASHINGTON PATRIOTS (12-6-3)

Few programs in the state have a greater tradition than Peoria Notre Dame, which is making its 14th state final appearance this weekend. Ninth-year head coach Mike Bare has lifted the Irish to new levels, winning three state titles since 2008. Notre Dame’s bid for a fifth state championship is keyed by senior forwards TJ Rea (24 goals, 12 assists) and Trey Knighton (16 goals, 10 assists).

Washington became the third Chicago Public School to win a state title in 2013 under head coach Alvaro Perez. After a one-year absence, Perez has the Patriots back at state hoping to make Washington two-for-two in state final appearances. The Patriots and keeper Jose Soto (.91 GAA, 85 saves) have allowed just three goals in the postseason, while senior forward Miguel Rodriguez (14 goals, 11 assists) has been the offensive catalyst in 2015.

CLASS 3A

BERWYN-CICERO MORTON MUSTANGS (26-2-0)   vs.
LIBERTYVILLE WILDCATS (17-3-1)

Morton returns to the state finals for the first time since 2011, when the Mustangs captured their first state championship in school history. Head coach Mike Caruso and his experienced staff has the team clicking on all cylinders, as they enter the weekend on a 16-match winning streak. Morton features a trio of double-digit scorers, including sophomore midfielder Baltazar Dunn (20 goals, 13 assists) and senior midfielder Leo Delgado (18 goals, 11 assists).

Legendary Libertyville coach Andy Bitta (434 career wins) has led the Wildcats to the championship match twice before (1986, 2010), and hopes 2015 will result in the program’s first state title. The Wildcats and junior goalkeeper Brant Kym have been lights out on defense, posting 11 shutouts and allowing only one postseason goal thus far. Senior Nate Edmunds (14 goals) scored the lone tally in the team’s 1-0 Super-Sectional win.

BARTLETT HAWKS (17-7-2)   vs.
QUINCY BLUE DEVILS (19-4-2)

Bartlett’s road to its first state final appearance has been one to remember, as first-year head coach Vince Dinuzzo’s squad has won all five State Series matches by a single goal, including a trio of 1-0 decisions. Senior forward Tim Riordan (13 goals) paces the Bartlett offense, while senior goalkeeper Jake Hasenstein (151 saves) has been between the pipes on a defense that has allowed one goal or less in 20 matches this season.

Legendary Quincy head coach Matt Longo has led the Blue Devils to the state tourney three times previously and has the program back for the first time since 1995. On the offensive end, the Blue Devils have been led by seniors Riley Roth (20 goals) and Bradyn Nokes (14 goals). Defensively, Eric Lubbert (81 saves) is the last line of defense for a unit that has recorded nine shutouts this season.
