The IHSA Board of Directors consists of 10 principals elected to three-year terms, plus a non-voting Treasurer who is appointed by the Board. Seven members are elected from geographic divisions, while three members are elected at-large, one from a racial minority, one from the underrepresented gender, and one from a private school. The Board of Directors determines IHSA policy, interprets the rules, and employs an Executive Director and staff to administer the programs of the IHSA.
